Let’s Open up!
Workout Eve is upon us and I know it brings smiles all around and there is much excitement from many. I want to start by thanking everyone that has supported CFW during these past 4 months, which has been a roller coaster ride, and no one could have prepared any of us for what we have seen in 2020. Thank you to our awesome community for the kind words that have been shared, support in workouts in our “Outside the Box” programming, and of course for standing by us to help keep our doors open.
You may be reading this in anticipation to your first workout back at CFW or perhaps you are reading this to inform yourself on the safety measures that CFW is taken to help decide when you feel safe to return. We understand everyone may find themselves in a different position during this time and want to be clear that the success of our opening depends on everyone and our plan is a progressive plan that we want to improve on with feedback. Our goal during this time (as it always been and will be) is to strive towards health goals, so our members and staff safety is a top priority. Health and Safety measures taken reflect this commitment to achieve a successful opening where our resilient community may thrive in once again. With many studies, research coming out continually, and as well reaching out to scientist within our University city we have spent endless hours in education. Here is what can be expected from CFW to assure the safety of our members.
Social Distancing
- Traffic flow is key to avoid congestion. Entering through the Crunch doors will allow for hand sanitizer to be used upon entering.
- Exiting through the Bay door (only if you feel comfortable) will allow less congestion at the entrance. However, if you are not comfortable stepping down PLEASE use the Crunch Exit.
- Entrance through the Bay door is not the design, so there will be no hand sanitizer at the Bay Door
- During the class you will be seen a layout to allow social distancing
- Class sizes has been set to 25 members per class, which means we will use up to the 3 sections of the gym (based on class size)
- Open Gym at this time will have to take a pause to accommodate for the class capacity and social distancing
- Our Schedule has changed to provide 30 minutes in between classes for the turn around of classes (this schedule may be adjusted, and it is the opening schedule at this time)
- Full schedule will kick off as of the week of July 20th
Cleaning
- Sanitation is key for any cleaning process, so we have invested in a Hospital/Food Grade Virus Vaporizer to kill germs (non-toxic to everyone & non-corrosive on equipment)
- With our schedule changes, it will allow for an enhanced Rigid deep cleaning process during the week (we will be closed on Thursdays and Sundays for this reason)
- Our Coaches will perform daily cleaning steps in between classes and as well as in between class blocks (ie. Early morning to Mid-morning to Evening, and end of day)
- We are stocking up on products to avoid shortage, and continue researching for effective cleaning solutions
- Crunch Fitness has beefed up their staff and cleaning schedule to assure a clean environment as well
Protection
- Coaches will be wearing Masks during classes to protect you from particles
- Coaches will rely on Verbal cues to avoid touch training
- Showers, Saunas, Water Fountain will not be available to avoid spread of germs
- Change rooms should be used on a limited basis
- No Chalk buckets will be seen to avoid the spread of germs (feel free to wear gloves or bring your own liquid chalk)
- Fans will be running with the Bay door and a side door open, to create air flow
- Communication is the key to all relationships, so you can be expected to read, hear, and be informed about any changes that are taken (we are so happy about our Newsletter for this reason)
We hope that all these measures that CFW is taking helps, it brings comfort to our members as we reopen. As many know the CFW team is here because of passion to Health and Fitness, and finding the correct balance in the economic state our business finds itself can be a challenge. In any community having accountability from everyone is vital for success. As a member you can count on us to remaining accountable for everyone’s safety, we cannot do this without you to achieve the correct balance. We ask for our members to become informed on what can be done to help keep our doors remain open and more importantly keep everyone safe by:
- Sign up with MindBody (we must keep track of who enters the building)
- Enter/Exit safely
- Masks must be worn indoors. The Clock will be our indicator on when masks may be removed. If the clock is running in your class, then masks may be removed. If you do not feel safe about this, then feel free to continue wearing your mask
- Come prepared for minimal contact by bringing ample of water and wearing your gym clothes
- Arrive on time and feel free to enter the building up to 15 minutes prior to class beginning
- Run outside or jump on a machine, to avoid running indoors for now
- Foot bumps allowed, but keep the high fives and fist bumps tucked away
- Clean up after yourself, as all members will be required to help keeping equipment clean between classes
- With a great summer feel free to chat/socialize outside
- After the class ends take up to 15 minutes if you like, but please allow for the proceeding class to enter by leaving within 15 minutes of the class ending
- Honour your body and others by being patience and mindful
- If you are not feeling well, stay at home
- Keep social distance indoors
- Feel free to bring props for your workouts. This could include a yoga mat, gloves, liquid chalk, towel(s), or anything else that you like to feel further protected
- Plan your route to CFW, as there is a lot of construction on Weber St.
With all these variables laid out, we believe that we can remain a healthy and safe community. As mentioned previously we are prepared to progress and pivot our Health and Safety process in any direction required, to keep everyone safe. If you are not ready to return, then you can still plan to see our “Outside The Box” videos on YouTube. Personal Training is also available to our members, so if you wish to proceed in that direction please contact us.
We have received many messages about the equipment that you may have at home, from our rental and loaner program. If that is the case for yourself, please hang tight as I will be emailing everyone as soon as possible with the details. If you found yourself not being able to sign up for a class, we did experience a glitch on MindBody but it has be resolved. You can now sign up for classes, so please log in again.
I look forward to seeing many smiles and share positive moments starting Friday,
Eddie
