The CrossFit Open
The CrossFit Open has been a long-standing tradition at CFW that has been providing a fun, inspiring, and fulfilling experience year after year! Athletes of all skill levels, experience, and ages come together to share their common reasons to compete in the Open. Fitness, Community, Family, Health, Competition, and Joy!
CrossFit Open Structure
The 3-week competition will feature a workout every Thursday designed to challenge your fitness week after week. Each workout will be inclusive of all levels of fitness AND based on your availability of equipment (see below).
Upon the workout announcement, you will have until Monday of the following week to complete the workout and post your scores! Each workout will require a judge or video submission to validate the score and maintain the movement standards of each workout.
Specific movements and scaling standards will all be posted on the CrossFit Games website once each workout is announced. Workout announcements, standards, score submissions, and leaderboards will all be completed and found on the CrossFit Games website.
The CrossFit Open at CFW
At CFW, we will be dedicating the barbell time slot on Saturdays (12:00 pm) for you to complete your workouts throughout the Open. This class is for anyone that is registered, so sign up for the CrossFit Open (https://games.crossfit.com/) before Saturday if you’d like to be signed into the class. Coach Yash will be signing members into the class, as the class is for participants only and you will not be able to sign yourself in.
If you are able to attend the 12:00 pm 2021 Open WOD class, please email Coach Yash in order to book yourself into the time slot. This will be the only way to register for the class during the next 3-weeks of the CrossFit Open.
For all those that want to work on their Olympic lifts, we thank you for your patience over the next 3 weekends. You will find the Barbell Class on the schedule again once the CrossFit Open is completed on the 29th.
If you can’t make it to Saturday’s Open class, Friday’s class workout will be the Open workout! Feel free to use the class to do your Open workout as long as the workout is recorded in order to validate your scores. Please send your video to yash@crossfitwaterloo.com OR upload your video alongside your score on the CrossFit Games website.
